- Adjust the number of colors in your palette (3–6) and drag to reorder any swatch.
- Fine‑tune hue and saturation on the Harmony Wheel; tweak global saturation and brightness with sliders.
- Lock any color while you experiment to keep it fixed in place.
- Preview palettes on light or dark backgrounds to see real‑world contrast.
- Copy your colors as hex codes or export a Tailwind‑style color scale for CSS frameworks.
- Share your palette with a link—settings and colors are saved in the URL so anyone can load it instantly.
How it works (quick start)
- Pick a base color with the color picker (or paste a hex code).
- Choose a harmony (e.g., Triadic) and select how many colors you want.
- Drag handles on the Harmony Wheel to adjust hues and saturation visually.

- Lock any swatch you want to keep, and drag to reorder your palette.
- Copy Hex or Tailwind colors, or click Share to copy a link that recreates your exact palette.
Color harmonies supported
The generator uses established color theory to suggest balanced combinations:
- Analogous: Colors near each other on the color wheel—great for cohesive, low‑contrast designs.
- Monochromatic: One hue with different tints/shades for simple, polished palettes.
- Complementary: Opposite hues that create strong contrast and visual interest.
- Split‑Complementary: A base color plus two neighbors of its complement—contrast with more flexibility.
- Triadic: Three evenly spaced hues, offering high contrast while staying balanced.
- Tetradic / Square: Four hues forming a rectangle or square—rich, versatile palettes.
- Accent Analogous: A mostly‑analogous set with a contrasting accent for emphasis.
Accessibility and contrast
Each swatch shows a contrast summary on hover. We calculate contrast according to WCAG guidelines so you can quickly see if text on your chosen background is likely to be readable. As a reference, 4.5:1 generally passes AA for normal text, and 7:1 is the target for AAA.
Use the Accessibility icon to open the Colorblind Preview. You can simulate Deuteranopia, Protanopia, and Tritanopia to see how your palette appears for different types of color vision deficiency. You can also check for indistinguishable color pairs under the selected simulation to ensure swatches remain visually distinct.
Neutral ramps for real‑world UI
Generate a harmonized neutral ramp (5–9 steps) aligned to your palette’s hue. Pick Neutral, Warm, or Cool bias to match your brand’s feel and use the ramp as a dependable gray scale for backgrounds, borders, and text in websites or product UIs.
Copying and exporting colors
The export menu groups all copy options in one place, and each option includes everything currently visible:
- Copy Hex (all visible): copies the palette and, if enabled, the 10‑step scale and neutral ramp.
- Copy JSON (all visible): exports a structured object with palette, scale (50–900), and neutrals.
- Copy CSS variables (all visible): outputs :root variables for the palette, scale, and neutral ramp.
- Copy Tailwind colors (all visible): generates Tailwind‑style colors for the scale and neutrals.
